This year, the Santa Claus Shop celebrates its 58th year of continued service here in Summit. The Santa Claus Shop, strictly a volunteer organization, is affiliated with SHIP (Summit Helping Its People). With your help, the Santa Claus Shop hosts a shopping event in early December to more than 500 families in need and senior citizens of Summit, New Providence and Berkeley Heights. These individuals, who are referred to us by social service agencies, are invited to pick out holiday gifts for their immediate family members.
This project can only continue through the support of those who believe, as we do, that a contribution to the Santa Claus Shop expresses the best values of the holiday season. The shop exists solely based on the donation of individuals, local businesses, and volunteers. With the monetary donations, the Santa Claus Shop can purchase the gifts that allow less fortunate neighbors to experience the joy of holiday giving without the financial burden.
Please help keep the spirit of holidays alive in our community by donating online or sending your tax-deductible contributions to:

ABOUT SHIP (SUMMIT HELPING ITS PEOPLE):
SHIP is a team effort by committed volunteers from the community guided by the SHIP Program Manager and SHIP Board Members.
SHIP provides various programs including a weekday breakfast/brown bag lunch program, a weekend fellowship dinner program
and a shower program. SHIP relies on the local community for financial support and receives no government funding.
In 1990, the Summit Interfaith Clergy Fellowship formed an ecumenical task force of clergy, public officials and concerned citizens.
Its goal was to assist homeless and at-risk homeless not served by other programs in the immediate area with additional support services
made available as needed.
Mission Statement
To feed the homeless and at-risk homeless people in Summit and assist participants in obtaining additional support services.
SHIP Board
The SHIP programs are administered by the Board and the Board hires a Program Manager to oversee the day to day activities and operations. The Board consists of community volunteers and meets approximately 10 times each year at 8.15 am on the first Thursday of every month, excluding July and August. The Board Chair presides at Board Meetings and represents SHIP within the community. In addition, there
is a Vice Chair, a Secretary, a Corresponding Secretary, and a Treasurer. Various committees are established by the Board as appropriate.
